Buying tips
- Last year's OLED models drop a lot in price when new ones arrive in spring.
- Check the room: in a very bright room, OLED reflections can bother you.
- Soundbars improve TV sound a lot; keep part of the budget for one.
- Look at the energy label: big TVs can cost a lot in electricity.
Questions and answers
OLED or Mini-LED: which is better?
OLED has perfect blacks and is best in dim rooms. Mini-LED gets much brighter and suits sunny living rooms. Both are great for gaming.
Is burn-in still a problem with OLED?
For normal viewing, hardly. Modern OLEDs move pixels and clean the panel automatically. Static logos for many hours a day are still a risk.
Do I need HDMI 2.1?
Only for a PS5, Xbox Series X or gaming PC at 120 Hz. For streaming and TV, any HDMI port is enough.
