Buying tips

  • Check the GPU wattage (TGP) in the specs: an RTX 5070 at 60 W can be slower than an RTX 5060 at 115 W.
  • RAM in many gaming laptops can be upgraded; check before you pay extra for 32 GB.
  • A cooling pad and a separate mouse make long sessions much nicer.
  • Gaming laptops drop in price around Black Friday and when a new GPU generation arrives.

Questions and answers

Is an RTX 5060 enough for new games?

Yes, at 1080p with high settings in most games. For 1440p or very demanding games, an RTX 5070 is the better choice.

Do I need 32 GB RAM for gaming?

16 GB is enough for most games today, but 32 GB keeps the laptop comfortable for longer, especially if you stream or keep many apps open.

Why do laptops with the same GPU perform differently?

Because makers set different power limits (TGP) and cooling. A thick laptop with good cooling can be 20–30 % faster than a thin one with the same chip.
